Immune Boosters

                        Immune booster

Corona is the word the entire world is screaming and scared of, it put the universe upside down. Thousands & Thousands of people getting affected every day and Hundreds and Hundreds of people dying every day.

Since we are in the stage of social spreading, and also no medicine found yet, we need to be very careful. Self hygiene playing vital role, apart from the hygiene building good immune system also very important.

Good immune system will help in protecting us from the disease in the first place, secondly if in case we have got infected it helps in the recovery.

As per the current records most of the people who have died are aged or having other physical issues(diabetes, blood pressure, etc.) basically people with weak immune system.

Here are some recommendations which we are following in our home regularly to boost our immune.

Papaya
Papaya is a good source of vitamin C, eating at least 2 pieces daily is good for your immune system. If not daily at least eat whenever it's possible. 

Almonds
Soak almonds overnight, peel off the skin and have it in the morning. Eating skin peeled almonds every day will be helped to stay healthy.

Spinach 
Having any seasonal spinach, in any form like soup, gravy etc, will help to stay away from disease. Moringa, Mint, Coriander, and Curry leaves are easily available green leaves try to add them in your regularly deit.

Seasonal fruit / vegetables
Its always good to have seasonal fruits and vegetables. Avoid hybrid varieties and try to consume all seasonal foods. Nature is very clever, it yields food that suits each climate so make use of it. 

Apart from these, we used to have some hand medicines (kaimarunthu) to stay healthy, find few of them which I feel it helps to protect us from the current situation.

Ginger and Lemon tea with turmeric
Ingredients:
2 inch of Ginger (skin peeled & crushed)
• 1 medium size lemon
• 5 glasses of water
• 1 teaspoon of Turmeric powder 
Serving - 4
Dosage - 1 glass for elders and 1/2 glass to kids less than 10, drinking in the empty stomach is more effective. 
Recipe: Boil 5 glasses of water with crushed ginger, once its starts getting bubbles keep the flame in sim for 5 minutes and switch off the flame. 

Filter the ginger water add 1 teaspoon of Turmeric powder and juice of one full lemon. Ready to drink, drinking it warm is good for throat. 

Betle leaves & Pepper tea
Ingredients:
• 3 Beetle leaves / Vetrilai
• 1 spoon Ajwain seeds / Omam
• ½ spoon Pepper corns
• ½ spoon freshly Cumin seeds powder / Seeragam
• ½ spoon turmeric powder 
• 5 glasses of water 
Serving - 4
Dosage - 1 glass for elders and 1/2 glass to kids less than 10, drinking in the empty stomach is more effective. 
Recipe:  Crush all the ingredients well and mix it with 5 glasses of water, boil it for 5 to 6 minutes & take out from the stove, close it with a lid until it comes warm. Once it becomes warm filter it and drink.

Tulasi, Cardamom and Colve
Ingredients 
• 1 Handful of Tulasi leaves 
• 4 Cardamom / Elachi
• 4 Colve / Lavangam
• 4 glasses water 
• Karpoora valli leaves 10 (optional) 
Serving - 4
Dosage - 1 glass for elders and 1/2 glass to kids less than 10, drinking in the empty stomach is more effective. 
Recipe: Crush elachi and colve well, clean tulasi, kapoora valli leaves,add all the ingredients in water boil it for 5 mins, close it with lid and switch off the stove, once it comes to warm temperature filter it to drink. 

Neem and Garlic balls
• 1 Handful of Neem leaves 
• 1 full big size Garlic
• 10 pepper corns
• 1 spoon of cumin seeds 
• ½ spoon of Hing
Serving - 4
Dosage - 4 balls for elders and 2 balls for kids less than 10. Have this in the morning at least an hour before drinking coffee or tea. 
Recipe: Rinse the neem leaves well, peel skin of garlic pearls, grind all the ingredients together without / less water.
Make small balls out of it and consume it in the empty stomach. It is good immune booster as well as it deworm well. One can consume it monthly once.

Herbal Pan
• 5 beetle leaves
• 5 Cardamom / Elachi
• 5 Colve / Lavangam
• 20 pepper corns
• Turmeric powder 
Serving - 5
Dosage - 1 full pan to elders and half to kids less than 10 years old. 
Recipe: In 1 beetle leaf keep 1 elachi, 1lavangam, 4 pepper corns, pinch of Turmeric. Fold it like a pan, chew well & eat. 

The ingredients used in these recipes are good to boost your immune system, have one at a time. Except Neem and garlic balls you can take other medicines regularly, it helps you in many ways, like weight reduction, digestion, cold, cough, sore throat etc. Try to take Nelavembu kudineer, Kaba sura kudineer which also good for health. Take foods which are easy to digest, avoid junks.
